What glutathione IV actually does for skin

Glutathione is the most heavily promoted active in beauty-IV programs, and the one most likely to be over-claimed. The biology is real but specific. The clinical question is what is supported and what is marketing.

Glutathione (GSH) is a tripeptide built from glutamate, cysteine, and glycine. It is one of the principal intracellular antioxidants in human tissue and a substrate in detoxification pathways in the liver and skin.

What glutathione does in skin

Inhibits tyrosinase, the enzyme that converts tyrosine into melanin. Reducing tyrosinase activity reduces eumelanin synthesis and shifts the melanin balance toward lighter pheomelanin. This is the mechanism behind the tone-clarification effects observed in glutathione programs.

Recycles oxidized vitamin C and vitamin E in tissue. This expands the functional antioxidant capacity of skin under UV and inflammatory stress.

Supports detoxification of reactive metabolites in the skin and liver. The clinical relevance varies by individual metabolic load.

What is and isn't supported

Supported by the literature: reduction in UV-induced erythema markers, more even tone across 4–8 weeks of dosing, modest reduction in hyperpigmentation in some populations. Effects are dose-dependent and recur with repeated administration.

Not supported as a clinical claim: skin whitening as a cosmetic goal. The FDA has issued warnings against marketing IV glutathione for skin lightening. Beauty Elite at INFUZE is structured around tone clarity and antioxidant support, not depigmentation.

Why the 4-week program

The visible skin layer renews on a ~28-day cycle. Effects on tone clarity become apparent as cells affected by the antioxidant support cycle through to the surface. A single session is invisible; the 4-week program covers one full renewal. Monthly maintenance preserves the effect.

Liver markers (ALT, AST, GGT) are baselined before the program and reviewed every 12 weeks on extended use. Glutathione is generally well tolerated, but ongoing dosing warrants documentation.

Facial neurotherapy — the second layer

Beauty Elite is not glutathione alone. Every session pairs the infusion with targeted facial neurostimulation — dermal electrodes placed along forehead, cheek and jaw lines for 25 minutes inside the 45-minute infusion.

Glutathione and vitamin C work systemically: plasma antioxidant capacity goes up, collagen pathway gets its cofactor, oxidized vitamin E and C are recycled in tissue. The facial neurotherapy works locally: stimulating fibroblast activity in the dermal layer and supporting muscle tone around the orbicularis and zygomaticus. Two angles on the same goal — connective tissue and skin clarity — in one session. The chemistry restores baseline; the neurotherapy adds the layer chemistry alone can't reach.

Common questions

Is Beauty Elite safe long-term?
The 4-week induction followed by monthly maintenance is well tolerated. We monitor liver markers every 12 weeks for clients on extended programs.
Will my skin lighten?
Beauty Elite can produce more even tone by reducing accumulated oxidative damage, but is not formulated or marketed for depigmentation. The clinical goal is tone clarity against your starting baseline.
How fast will I see results?
Most clients notice tone improvement by week 2 of the 4-week program. Texture and clarity changes build across weeks 4–8.
